Wampeters come and wampeters go

I am sitting in my hotel room drinking wine and watching hulu instead of trying to understand accomplice liability for Crim Law, obviously.  I’m watching Grey’s Anatomy (feel free to make fun of me forever), and gotta say, I am digging the scene where some jerk tells Kepner that she got the job he wanted because she’s a woman and maybe slept with the doctor who gave it to her instead, and she punches him in the face (though I don’t believe in using violence to solve your problems in real life, I often find it satisfying on screen), and then he calls her a bitch and then punches Avery in the face because … he doesn’t want to hit a girl?  Just say terrible things to her?  Whatever.  And Avery’s like “Really?” and the jerk guy says to Avery “You want to go?” and Kepner jumps between them and says, “Yeah, bitch, I wanna go!” and attacks him.  They fuck up gender stuff sometimes on this show, or try to challenge things and chicken out or fail to make things clear sometimes (like how totally messed up Owen’s position on abortion is, and how Christina should be the one who never wants to speak to him again and is absolutely right in that argument), but I thought that this was one of the instances where they challenged the usual story quite well.  Let’s hope they don’t fuck it up after the commercial break.

Update: Yup.  They kinda did.
