Uh oh.
I am about to get a smart phone. I have never had one before because I am lame and behind the times. I was wondering … what should I know about twitter?  I’ve been a member for years, but I think it’s been more than one since I actually used it, so … what are your usernames?  How exactly do hashtags work?  How do you manage following people without it being super annoying...

Goddammit.
estrellitasymar: Someone broke my car window @ Starbucks. They took my teaching briefcase, which had nothing of monetary value in it, but did have my agenda, role book, lesson plans, and the latest tests I was bringing home to correct (fuck.) Worst of all? The briefcase was the one daddy used to use for work :’-( I’m so sorry! Getting robbed sucks. When it happened to me recently, I lost...

My superpower
is being a terrible student yet somehow overcoming all my crazy bad habits to turn in assignments on time.  Let’s hope that in law school I also manage to continue to get decent grades.

Is it weird that I keep thinking the Trojan commercials on hulu are saying “bear skin condoms” not “bare skin condoms”?

Common Sense Time. — Feministe →
Great illustration of what the personhood amendment really means.  Supporters of the amendment who say it doesn’t really mean this should make efforts to have the language changed.  Or not, because the way it is currently written is so messed up that it is unlikely to pass, and I hope it’s not too optimistic of me to say that.

I LOVE my grandfather.
I called my grandfather at the hospital tonight (he fell recently and broke his leg).  He  asked if I was going to try to work for a judge this summer.  I told him my boyfriend was a cyclist and was in a cycling club with a judge he’s sort of friends with who happened to go to the same undergrad AND law school as I did, so I was going to try to network that connection.  He thought I said...

Holy burrito (or 'Oh jeez, I am a law nerd.')
me: You know what's super interesting? The rule against perpetuities.
me: Just kidding. It is not interesting.
David: Perpetuities
Is that like
Could God legally make a burrito so hot it would remain hot forever
me: Yes, that is what the rule against perpetuities is.
God cannot legally make that burrito.
me: Or rather, he cannot convey that burrito with a future interest that vests more than 21 years after the time of conveyance*.
David: Interesting
And by interesting I mean "don't really understand it"
me: That's because it is complicated and boring.
[*actually that's inaccurate. I meant to say, 'after the death of any life in being at the time of conveyance**.']
[**which, since it's God, and he is arguably eternal, I guess he could make that burrito AND convey it whenever he wanted because he has and always will be alive and is a validating life. So I was altogether wrong.]
