I'm feeling splenetic
But I’m going to blame part of it on someone else.  But not really. In an uncomfortable moment of conversation, someone pointed out to me that I had repeated something several times.  I had noticed that, though I hadn’t intended to do so.  I sometimes do this when I feel that the other person is not actually listening to me, because they are not responding in any way (a nod or mmhmm...

I had a dream last night that I went to the Teach for America interview and did terribly at everything.  I hadn’t prepared a lesson, I completely messed up the test, I failed at listening to directions, and the interviewer rolled her eyes at me. It was awful.

In Praise of Feeling Bad About Yourself
“The buzzard never says it is to blame The panther wouldn’t know what scruples mean. When the piranha strikes, it feels no shame. If snakes had hands, they’d claim their hands were clean. A jackal doesn’t understand remorse. Lions and lice don’t waver in their course. Why should they, when they know theiy’re right? Though hearts of killer whales may...

“I find serifs beautiful. They are formal and elegant, and distinguish type from handwriting.” Excepting Death, the only person/anthropomorphic personification who has handwriting with serifs.* stumblingneon: I realized yesterday when helping Boyfriend make his own tumblr that mine is SANS SERIF! I am far too obsessed with fonts (most especially bringing down the motherfucking...

Fwd: The Babies Know
My mother sent me an e-mail forward that was actually quite funny, and I know for certain that it will tickle some followers of this blog.  It started with a slew of pictures, of which the following are but a small sample. Followed, of course, by this:

The Mo's Third Law of E.Mo-tion
For every emotion there is an equal and opposite emotion.  High hopes and the paranoid apprehension of failure, for example. Note: This law is only absolute as it applies to job applications and infatuations. Also, I must once again apologize for a ridiculously bad title.  As usual, I just couldn’t resist.

Ok, so..
stumblingneon: So, here: a vomit of posts for you.. b) My “Dashboard” was filled with not only cliche (yes I’m calling y’all out) New Year’s Resolutions, but also cliche “I never do resolutions because they’re cliche but here they are anyway” framing. [guilty, sort of] e) Because I like to do whatever the cool kids are doing, my belated New Year’s Resolutions ARE: Go to the gym? g) I hate to...

I have decided where I want to live.
Burlington, Vermont. But first, I need to figure out what I want to do and go to grad school and stuff, because UVM is too expensive and I want to live other places first. I wanted to get away from everything I’ve known so I could start totally fresh.  But you know what?  Starting fresh sucks.  I don’t really feel at home in Virginia, but my friends and family are all on the East...

New semester habits
No class Fridays! So: hiking/snowboarding as much as possible, and working on my thesis, and I’m going to try to go to the grocery store and cook fresh food every Friday.  Unless I spend the whole day snowboarding, which is only going to happen a few times because Wintergreen blows and I’m not wasting my money on a season pass there. No class until 2 on Mondays and Wednesdays, and 11...

Karma.
I received a blood donor card in the mail from Virginia Blood Services because I donated blood to them for the first time last semester.  I had never donated blood before because every blood drive was right before a game when I was in marching band or while I was sick, or I found some other excuse because even though I’m okay with needles, the thought of losing a pint of blood kind of...

The further developement of commitment-phobia
I confess, I’m a bit lonely.  I’ve been single for quite awhile now, and it would be nice to find a guy that I had chemistry with to date for a while.  An easygoing boyfriend.  Being single is okay, but that would be ideal.  However, I have seen several couples lately that make me think getting into a serious, committed relationship is a terrible idea, whereas before I was afraid I...

New Semester's Resolutions.
I don’t have any New Year’s Resolutions.  There are things that I am already working on, or things that I’ve been meaning to start working on, but the New Year has nothing to do with them.  A new year tacked on the date means nothing, really, in the scheme of things.  However, a new semester is a new, definable chunk of life, with a new schedule, and therefore it is more...
